Nepal Police: Death toll of Jajarkot earthquake reaches 157

A earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 struck Barekot Rural Municipality-1, Ramidanda, Jajarkot at 11:47 pm last night.

As per the report of Nepal Police, 157 lives have been lost, with 105 casualties reported in Jajarkot and 52 in Rukum West. Additionally, 170 individuals have been reported injured in both districts, with Jajarkot accounting for 81 and Rukum West for 78. Furthermore, 3 injuries were recorded in Dailekh, Jumla, Pyuthan each, and 2 in Baitadi.

The injured are being airlifted to Nepalgunj, Kathmandu, and other locations for urgent medical attention, courtesy of the Nepali Army helicopters.

The collaborative efforts of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force are currently focused on the rescue and relief operations in the affected areas. Over 1,500 security personnel have been mobilized to assist in this critical endeavor.
