CPN-UML has suspended party secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi after his name was linked to the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

Issuing a press release, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel informed about his suspension from the party until the investigation and legal action against him are concluded.

Pokharel also assured that the party will facilitate and not obstruct in the ongoing investigation.

The secretariat meeting, held on Tuesday, took the decision to this effect and also urged Rayamajhi to surrender and cooperate in the investigation.

Rayamajhi had claimed his innocence and assured to coordinate with the police to help in the investigation but he went out of contact and is still on the run.

Police have issued an arrest warrant against Rayamajhi while his son Sandeep has been arrested by the police.
