Rabi Lamichhane’s election campaigning vehicle has been vandalised in Muglin of Chitwan district. Chitwan police said that the incident took place around 3:30 pm on Sunday.
A group of people approached the car and smashed the windshield and rear glass of the car while conducting the campaign program for the upcoming election.
Lamichhane, who is chair of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President, has accused the perpetrators are supporters of the ruling coalition party.
“Other supporters of our party were seated in the vandalised car. The group attacked us while the police personnel were around and they didn’t do anything about the incident but rather escorted the perpetrators. The safety of normal citizens is more important than that of mine,” said Lamichhane.
A video posted on RSP’s Facebook page shows a person smashing the windscreen.
Meanwhile, RSP press coordinator Karki accuses the government of failing to provide security to the candidates in the run-up to the elections as it turned into a mute spectator after the vandalism.
