The Ministry of Health and Population has requested voters and poll workers to observe health protocols during Election Day on Friday, 13th May, 2022, citing the possible risk of increase of Covid-19 cases.
According to the MoHP, “although cases are declining, the risk of spread of infection is still high”. The Health Ministry has requested everyone to remain alert, and to abide by the recommended healthy safety protocols:
- Wearing a mask,
- Avoiding crowds,
- Maintaining physical distance,
- Carrying a sanitizer, or washing your hands whenever possible.
Nepal is scheduled to vote for its local level leaders on tomorrow (Friday), its second local level elections since the promulgation of the new constitution in 2015. It is also important to note that vehicular movement across the country is restricted on polling day – except for emergency services, and those vehicles with a permit.
