The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a warning of an impending intensification of monsoon activity expected to commence by Thursday.
The monsoon low-pressure trough is anticipated to position itself near the southern border of Nepal, potentially escalating monsoon conditions across the country. The Division has advised the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against possible adverse incidents until July 4.
The weather is predicted to be generally cloudy nationwide, with light to moderate rain likely in most regions. Several areas in the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and isolated parts of the Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning during this period.
Specifically, in the next three to four days, parts of Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are expected to see heavy rainfall. The Division has highlighted the districts of Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Tehrathum, Morang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Ilam, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, and Okhaldhunga in the Koshi Province as being particularly vulnerable to landslides and flooding.
Additionally, high risks of natural disasters have been identified in Makwanpur, Chitwan, Sindhupalchowk, and Dolakha in Bagamati Province; Myagdi, Baglung, Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahu, Nawalparasi East, and Lamjung in Gandaki Province. In Lumbini Province, districts such as Kapilvastu, Rupendehi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Pyuthan, Nawalparasi West, Rolpa, and Rukum East are also at risk. However, no significant risk has been predicted for the Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Today’s forecast indicates generally to mostly cloudy skies across the country, with light to moderate rain, thunder, and lightning expected in some regions. There is a high likelihood of heavy rainfall in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight’s weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy throughout the country, with light to moderate rain, thunder, and lightning likely in some parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places elsewhere. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall in a few locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with very heavy rainfall anticipated in isolated spots in Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
