Workers prepare incense to sell at the local market, in Bhaktapur, on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Maya Poudel, the owner of the small scale factory at the outskirts of Kathmandu valley established the business spending Rs. 25, 000. Currently she sells incense worth Rs. 125,000 per month. “The packaged incense are usually sold to shopkeepers at Boudha, Swayambhu and some are also exported to Chitwan and other parts of the country.” says Maya Poudel.
Tibetan incense are Unique from other incense as it is made by hand, using only pure herbs, spices and flowers. Buddhists regard incense as ‘divine odor’ and its smell is meant to evoke the presence of Buddhist divinities.
