Hindu devotees visited the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu today to mark the first Monday of the Nepali month of Shrawan.

The main temple, however, has not been opened for public since its closure on March 24 with the enforcement of the national lockdown triggered by Covid-19.

Though the government has clarified that religious places will not be open for public despite relaxation of some lockdown restrictions, Tourism Minster Yogeshwor Bhattarai on July 12 directed office bearers of Pashupati Area Development Trust to prepare for opening the Pashupatinath temple by putting in place, necessary health security protocol, for some period, once public vehicles resume service.
