KAILALI

Police arrested Dan Bahadur Saud, operator of Meat Point Hotel in Attaria, Godavari Municipality-2, on Wednesday last week (June 2) on the charge of human trafficking.

Saud was arrested on the basis of a police complaint that he had kept two women in his hotel from May 23 to June 2 under the pretext of providing them employment. As per the complaint, he had forced the women to have sexual intercourse with other people.

According to the District Police Office, Kailali, the case is being investigated by the District Court, Kailali.

KANCHANPUR

Police arrested Nabin Sunar, 24, of Sivanagar Tol in Dodhara Chandani Municipality-3 on Saturday afternoon (June 5) on the charge of raping a 17-year-old girl.

The Area Police Office, Dodhara had acted on a tip-off that Sunar had raped a minor girl on Friday night.

Further investigation into the case in underway, police said.

PARSA

An Indian national and his Nepali wife were arrested on Monday last week (May 31) for trying to sell two young women from Gorkha to India.

The arrestees are Asghar Saifi, 27, and his wife Sita Thapa Chhetri, 26, aka Sakina Khatun.

According to police investigation, the arrested couple were taking two girls to India under the pretext of attending a Kanya Puja (virgin worship). One of the survivors is said to be the sister the arrested man.

The arrested couple had lured the two survivors with financial temptation in exchange for attending the Kanya Puja in Nepalgunj. Police investigation later revealed that they were on route to India.

Both the survivors belong to economically impoverished households, police said.

The couple had brought the women to Birgunj and kept them in a hotel, saying that they would receive their money – Rs 100,000 each — there.

After the survivors grew suspicious of the couple, they had come out of the hotel under the pretext of buying a recharge and asked a shopkeeper to call the police.

Parsa District DSP Omprakash Khanal informed that couple have been kept in seven-day remand for further investigation.

SURKHET

Police arrested three people on Sunday morning (June 6) on the charge of sexually abusing two Raute women.

Among the arrested are Chuman Bahadur Gharti, 35, Bhupendra Budha Magar, 24, and Milan Pun Magar, 29. Milan owns the Subhakamana Hotel in Gurbhakot Municipality of Surkhet.

The three inebriated men had forced the two Raute women, one 18-year-old and another 22-year-old, to drink alcohol and sexually abused them at Milan’s hotel on Saturday night.

They later made the video public on social media, which caught widespread attention.

“We might have some difficulties in investigating the case as the Raute women might not be aware that they can and should raise their voice against sexual abuse,” said Surkhet District Police Office DSP Ram Prasad Gharti.

Police is conducting further investigation in this regard.

BAITADI

Police arrested Harish Dhami, 19, and Bikram Dhami, 19, of Selibijula in Pancheshwor Gaonpalika-6 of Baitadi district on the charge of raping a 21-year-old woman on Friday afternoon last week (June 4).

The District Police Office, Baitadi attested them after receiving a police complaint that they had raped the 21-year-old on Sunday last week (May 30).

Investigation into the case is under way, police said.

MORANG

Police arrested Saroj Kumar Sah, 24, of Budhiganga-2 on Thursday evening (June 3) on the charge of sexually abusing a 25-year-old woman.

Shah is accused of repeatedly sexually abusing and thrashing the women, police said. Further investigation is underway.

BARDIYA

Police arrested a 32-year-old man from Barbardia Municipality of Bardiya on Thursday evening (June 3) on the charge of raping his 11-year-old step-daughter.

Police received a complaint on Wednesday afternoon that the man had raped his minor step-daughter. Police is conducting further investigation in this regard.

Similarly, police arrested Karna Bahadur Kami, 57, of Beltandi village in Madhuwan Municipality-9 of Bardiya on Wednesday afternoon (June 2) on the charge of raping a 13-year-old girl. Further investigation is underway.

BHAKTAPUR

Metropolitan Police Circle Jagati arrested Chulai Mukhiya, 49, of Ganesh Mandir in Suryabinayak Municipality-8 on Wednesday afternoon (June 2) on the charge of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in Salaghari of Bhaktapur. Police is conducting further investigation in this regard.

Similarly, officials from the Katunje Metropolitan Police Division, Bhaktapur arrested Harikrishna Koju, 50, of Gundu in Suryabinayak Municipality on Tuesday night (June 1) on the charge of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl. Police investigation is ongoing.

LALITPUR

Lalitpur Police arrested Ram Ashis Sada, 20, of Saptari on Tuesday afternoon (June 1) on the charge of raping a 5-year-old girl in Godavari Municipality.

Sada had raped the girl child inside an under-construction hotel building at Godavari Municipality-3. Further investigation is underway.

KATHMANDU

Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Dallu of Kathmandu on Tuesday night (June 1) on the charge of sexually abusing his 14-year-old daughter.

Personnel from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Swayambhu arrested after receiving information that the man had sexually abused his daughter through intimidation. Police investigation is ongoing.

SUNSARI

Personnel from the Itahari Area Police Office arrested Bhabiraj Damai, 67, of Itahari Sub-Metropolis-3 on Tuesday afternoon (June 1) on the charge of raping a 9-year-old girl. Further investigation is underway.

Similarly, Area Police Office, Dharan arrested Bal Bahadur Thapa, 35, of Chandni Chowk in Dharan on Tuesday afternoon (June 1) on the charge of raping a 58-year-old woman. Police is conducting necessary investigation.

MAKAWANPUR

The Area Police Office, Palung arrested Raju Balami, 26, of Lilakhel in Thaha Municipality of Makawanpur on Monday afternoon (May 31) on the charge of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in his own house. Investigation is ongoing.

JHAPA

The Area Police Office, Kumarkhod arrested Pankaj Yadav, 20, of Lasunganj in Jhapa on Sunday morning (May 30) on the charge of sodomy and sexually abusing a nine-year-old boy. Investigation is ongoing.
