Two cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Chitwan, marking the resurgence of the virus after 10 months in the district.
Lab tests conducted on Sunday and today revealed that a 29-year-old youth and a 66-year-old man have tested positive for the virus.
Gopal Paudel, the information officer of Bharatpur Hospital, disclosed that the older man initially sought treatment for pneumonia, which led to the discovery of his COVID-19 infection. The older man is admitted at the hospital for treatment whereas the 29-year-old is under home-based isolation.
Gitanjali Dhakal, the Public Health Officer of the Health Office, Chitwan, said that this marks the first reported cases in the district since March.
The Health Office Chitwan has issued a public advisory urging residents to exercise caution.
The advisory recommends precautionary measures such as maintaining physical distance, using masks, and regular handwashing to prevent the further spread of the virus.
