At least six people died while a dozen others went missing after the flooded Kailash Khola entered several settlements of Ramaroshan Rural Municipality in Achham on Tuesday.

Four dead bodies were recovered from Koseda area in Darna of Bannigadi Jayagad Rural Municipality while two other bodies were found at Lamatna and Seri of Mangalsen Municipality, according to DSP Yogendra Singh Thapa.

Besides inundating several houses in the area, the flood also swept away a concrete bridge at Darna.

Chief District Officer Gokarna Prasad Upadhyay said that around 18 people were missing after the flood.

A team of security personnel comprising of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army has been deployed to the area for search and rescue operation.

Meanwhile, landslides triggered by incessant rain in Bajura district claimed two lives while two others went missing on Tuesday.

According to police, a 55-year-old woman died in a landslide at Budhinanda Municipality while a three-year-old died in another landslide at Chhdedaha Rural Municipality Ward No 5.

Similarly, two people went missing while four others sustained injuries in another landslide in Bungal Municipality of Bajhang on Tuesday night.

According to police, the landslide that occurred at around 1:15am last night, swept away one house.

A 14-year-old and a 5-year-old have gone missing in the landslide. Search and rescue operation is still underway.
