After the situation got tense while students were protesting in spite of the curfew placed by District Administration Office, Kailali, the police fired one and a half dozen tear gas shells to control the situation.

Locals and students, who were out for protest, dispersed after the police fired tear gas. Similarly, the police detained 11 people including students and local women.

Chetana Saud, a 15-year-old girl who was going to school on a bicycle, died on Thursday morning after being hit by a truck.

The protesters have demanded that the culprits should be brought to justice and proper compensation should be provided to the victim’s family.

After the incident, the students of Panchodaya Secondary School, where the girl was studying, demonstrated a protest in Dhangadhi throughout Thursday.

Shiva Raj Joshi, information officer of the District Administration Office, said that a curfew is imposed on the area surrounding the incident.

He also informed the victim party has been called for discussion. The family has refused to pick up the dead body.
