Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has expressed his commitment to developing Tilganga Eye Hospital into a university.

PM Dahal made such commitments during a meeting with the Director of Tilganga Eye Center and world-renowned opthalmologist, Dr Sanduk Ruit on Saturday.

“I am very positive about developing Tilganga Hospital into a university and necessary policy reforms will be taken in this regard,” said PM Dahal.

He also expressed his commitment to providing all other necessary support from the government for eye treatment.

In the meeting, Dr Ruit said that Nepal has done some exemplary work in the field of eye treatment and shared about the possibility of producing the medicine for cataract treatment in Nepal itself.

On the occasion, PM Dahal congratulated Dr Ruit for being honoured with the ‘Isa Award for Service to Humanity’, the highest civilian award of the Kingdom of Bahrain in recognition of his continuous efforts and dedication to cure the developing world’s needlessly blind.

“This award has given a message that Nepal has skilled human resources of international level. Recognition of your contribution to humanitarian services is an honour for the country,” PM Dahal said.
