Nepal government has launched free telemedicine services from today, focusing on Nepali workers who are currently abroad for foreign employment.
According to the Foreign Employment Board (FEB), the service will provide timely advice and consultation to address the health problems faced by Nepali migrant workers abroad.
Spokesperson for the Board, Rajan Poudel, informed the service would be catered during office hours as per Nepal time, except on public holidays.
Nepali migrant workers can call mobile numbers +977-9851345701 and +977-9851345702 via Viber or WhatsApp.
A medical officer will provide telemedicine facilities and if a specialist is required for someone, the medical officer will recommend the individual to a specialist doctor who will be available every Sunday and Friday.
“The prescription for the service-seeking worker would be sent online and the Board will bear all the expenses of this service,” informed Poudel.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has already approved the Telemedicine Service Operation Procedures, 2023 for operating telemedicine service targeting Nepali workers on foreign employment.
The Foreign Employment Board has signed an agreement with Bir Hospital for the provision of telemedicine service.
