Nepal government has amended current foreign labour permit procedures, removing the two-year permit system.
Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security had submitted a proposal to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, for amending the procedure to grant labour permits to Nepali migrant workers.
The ministry had been issuing labour permits that were valid only for two years due to which, many migrant workers abroad had to return to Nepal for an extension of their labour permits.
“Nepali migrant workers abroad won’t have to return to Nepal for renewal of a permit or to get a new labour permit upon expiry of their labour permits from now on and they can even pay fees for the process via foreign account,” the ministry informs.
The labour permit will now be provided as per the visa duration and work agreement of an individual foreign worker.
