The Melamchi Water Supply Project is set to resume in certain areas of Kathmandu Valley from January 15 after facing disruptions since June 2023.
The Minister for Drinking Water, Mahindra Raya Yadav, announced during an inspection visit to the Sundarijal-based Water Treatment Plant that water from the Melamchi project had arrived, and distribution in Kathmandu would commence at 9:00 am on January 15.
The Melamchi Water Supply Board faced challenges after the 2021 flooding severely damaged the project.
Minister Yadav assured that the water would be supplied in all seasons, emphasizing the timely arrival of water to Sundarijal.
Anamnagar, Minbhawan, Mahakalchaur, Rigani, Bhaktapur, Khumaltar, Balaju, and Bansbari will be supplied water starting January 15. The distribution will gradually extend to other parts of the city.
