Police arrested Penduwa Chaudhary (43) on charges of murdering his 42-year-old wife, Lakshmi Chaudhary on Saturday.

The incident occurred when Penduwa, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, struck his wife on the head with an iron rod.

Police Inspector Navaratna Malla of Tulsipur Area Police Office confirmed that Lakshmi Chaudhary succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

Two neighbors, Meena Thapa and Sheela Chaudhary, sustained injuries when they attempted to inquire about the situation. Penduwa, with the same iron rod, attacked both Thapa and Chaudhary.

The injured are currently receiving medical reatment at Rapti Regional Hospital, Tulsipur and are stable now.
