The representatives of Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) and Internet Service Provider companies held a meeting with Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) officials, reaching an agreement to remove unorganized wires within the city from today.
According to Manoj Lamichhane, KMC Police Superintendent, the jumbled wires in Maitighar and New Road areas will be removed in the initial phase.
KMC has provided a deadline of May 10 to the concerned bodies to remove the wire and the metropolis, is prepared to remove such wires on its own, informed Lamichhane.
Earlier, the metropolis had provided a 15-day ultimatum to internet service providers, cable TV services and stakeholders to manage the tangled and low-hanging cable wires.
However, after multiple failed attempts, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) started removing such wires on Friday which led the stakeholders to hold a discussion with the metropolis.
Meanwhile, KMC Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has requested support from the people in case of any short-term inconvenience caused during the process.
