Victims of microfinance and financial institutions from different districts marched from Mugling to Kathmandu, rallying through Kalanki, Balkhu, Ekantakuna, Satdobato, Koteshwar, and Tinkune before reaching Siphal.

Under the banner of the “Struggle Committee against Microfinance and Financial Exploitation,” protestors demanded the annulment of microfinance loans, dissolution of microfinance institutions, and provision of interest-free loans to farmers.

They plan to stage demonstrations at Nepal Rastra Bank headquarters in the coming days.

The group’s spokesperson reiterated the plight faced by many, stating, “there is a need for urgent intervention to alleviate the burden of debt of countless families across the nation.”
