Stating that the continued threat of COVID-19 still remains, Minister for Health and Population Padam Giri has directed the responsible authorities to quickly manage and administer COVID-19 booster doses.
While making an inspection at the Department of Health Services on Thursday, Giri stated that the COVID-19 virus could spread into Nepal through the open borders we share with neighbouring nations and it is urgent to manage booster shots.
Similarly, Giri also stated that medical equipment allotted to hospitals largely remained unused and directed the department to take stock of the situation and take action accordingly.
Meanwhile, Minister Giri has also directed the concerned authorities to be responsible and maintain transparency in the process to purchase the vaccination. On Thursday, Nepal recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases.
Mostly those traveling abroad are concerned and seeking a COVID-19 booster dose before heading abroad but are not able to do so due to a shortage of COVID-19 vaccines.
