The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a flood risk warning for nine districts of the Koshi Province, urging the public to remain vigilant for the next three days due to potential flooding.
According to the latest forecast, there is a medium risk of flooding in Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, and surrounding areas.
The Division has advised residents, especially those living near riverbanks, to exercise extreme caution while engaging in any activities near the rivers. In particular, smaller rivers flowing through districts such as Bhojpur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, Udayapur, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Kaski, and Lamjung are expected to experience a significant rise in water levels.
While the Kanaki River is expected to rise considerably, officials predict it will remain below the danger level. However, nearby settlements are advised to stay on high alert as a precautionary measure.
In addition, the Division has noted that major rivers, including Koshi, Narayani, Mahakali, Karnali, Bagmati, East Rapti, West Rapti, and Babai, may see slight fluctuations in water levels. Although no severe flooding is forecast for these rivers, residents are still urged to remain cautious.
