The high-level committee established to investigate the Balkumari incident on December 29, 2023, has called upon the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, to provide a statement regarding his presence at the location on the day of the protest.

The government had formed a committee headed by former High Court Judge Shekhar Paudel after the incident.

The committee, also comprising former AIG Arun BC and Joint Home Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, aims to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Balkumari incident.

Minister Jwala is expected to face inquiries concerning his role and presence at the location during the protest.

On 29th December, the incident unfolded at the EPS office premises, where a group of examinees demanding the opportunity to apply in the manufacturing sector, among others, resorted to setting fire to Minister Jwala’s official vehicle.

Two individuals succumbed to injuries during the protest.
