More than 80,000 tickets have been booked to travel via public transportation after ticket booking opened on Ashoj 1 for the Dashain festival, as of Monday.
People leaving Kathmandu for their hometown to celebrate Dashain are seen crowded in New Buspark and other ticketing counters for the pre-booking of seats in public transport.
The chairperson of Nepal National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs, Bijaya Kumar Swar, said that number of tickets booked by Monday evening has reached 80000.
The highest number of tickets has been booked by those heading towards the western part of the country including Dang, Pyuthan, Kailali, Doti, Bajhang, Mahendra Nagar and Dhangadi.
Booking is going on even now. So, the number is likely to rise more, he said.
As public vehicles are overcrowded during the Dashain festival, people are booking seats priorly to exit Kathmandu before Dashain festival.
