Kathmandu, August 4
Six people were arrested in Kathmandu on Wednesday evening for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a Chinese national. Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu said that police rescued the Chinese national and arrested the Nepalis involved in the kidnapping.
Police said the kidnappers had demanded ransom money of Rs 10 million, adding that the accused also robbed three Chinese nationals of Rs 800,000 and 27 mobile sets.
Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Bharat Bahadur Bohora informed that a joint team of District Police Range, Kathmandu and Police Circle Durbar Marg arrested them.
The suspects have been taken into custody and will be presented before the District Court. Further details are to be made public by the police later.
