According to the statistics from the National Disaster and Risk Management Authority, Nepal recorded a total of 6,400 incidents of disasters in 2080 BS, affecting 80,716 families.
The disasters, ranging from landslides to floods, boat capsizes to lightning strikes, and even animal attacks, resulted in casualties totaling 493 dead, with 31 individuals still reported missing and 1,616 injured.
Among the most catastrophic events was the Jajarkot earthquake on November 3, claiming 155 lives. There were 4,061 incidents reported of fire (from Baisakh 1 to Chaitra 30 of 2080 BS), resulting in 106 casualties, 504 injuries, and affecting 5,130 families, with property losses exceeding Rs 2.52 billion.
Lightning strikes, with 250 incidents, resulted in 46 fatalities and 228 injuries. Animal assaults claimed 45 lives and left 278 injured. Landslides, floods, snakebites, avalanches, and forest fires contributed to the toll, with each claiming numerous lives and causing extensive damage.
Landslides caused 50 deaths, followed by floods with 18 fatalities, snakebites with 20 deaths, avalanches with 12 fatalities, and forest fires claiming 11 lives.
