14 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday. 12 people in Udayapur and 2 in Chitwan have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal (MoHP), all coronavirus patients of Udayapur are male and of Indian nationality – age group ranging 20 to 34 years old.

Meanwhile, the duo from Chitwan are mother and son who returned from UK via Hong Kong on March 18.

The swab samples of 12 people from Udayapur had been sent to Biratnagar on Tuesday for PCR testing. They were taking shelter at a local mosque in Udayapur district.

Meanwhile, the swab samples of 2 from Chitwan were sent to National Avian Disease Investigation Laboratory in Chitwan.

The people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Udayapur have been taken to Biratnagar along with four Nepalis who were in quarantine with them and the mother and son from Chitwan are kept in isolation at Bharatpur Hospital.

With this, the number of coronavirus infected people has escalated to 30. Friday’s surge is Nepal’s biggest recorded increase in a single day.
