Hearing of cases at the Supreme Court has remained stalled for four days now as 15 justices are busy discussing their next move against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, who faces accusation of seeking favour from the executive and delaying the hearing of cases filed against constitutional bodies appointments.

The 15 justices of the Supreme Court had earlier met CJ Rana and urged him to resign from his post as he had eroded the dignity of his position. Rana, however, has refused to quit.

All 15 attending justices of the Supreme Court have been assigned benches by CJ Rana, but the justices have refused to conduct any hearings until their demands are met. Only Rana’s single bench has conducted hearings and issued show-cause notices in two cases.

The justices met the CJ in a full-court meeting called to pass a condolence message on the passing away of former SC Justice Sharada Prasad Pandit, but the current stalemate was not discussed.
