United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has arrived for a four-day official visit to Nepal, in response to an invitation from Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
The primary focus of his visit is addressing climate change and devising strategies to help alleviate its impact on people’s livelihoods.
During his visit, UN Secretary-General Guterres is set to hold courtesy meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Dahal. He will also engage in discussions with key political figures, including Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.
In addition to diplomatic discussions, Guterres plans to explore Nepal’s cultural richness.
The apex of his visit is scheduled for Tuesday, where Guterres will address a joint session of the federal parliament, focusing on critical issues such as peace consolidation, sustainable development, and climate change.
