Seven crew members of Nepal Airlines, including three pilots and four cabin crew members, involved in operating the repatriation flights have tested positive for coronavirus infection.

Swab samples were earlier collected from 14 crew members for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Seven of them tested positive while reports of the remaining have yet to arrive.

The national flag carrier has said that it will provide the required treatment and quarantine procedures for its infected staff.

This, however, will not affect future repatriation flights to be operated by NAC as per the government’s decision to bring back home Nepalis stranded abroad, according to NAC.

Apart from the 14 crew members of the NAC, 50 others have also been quarantined at Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu.

Before this, a captain and a flight attendant of Himalayan Airline had tested positive for Covid-19.
