A clash has occurred between those who are protesting against MCC and police in the New Baneshwore area. Currently, there is a tense situation in the Baneshwore area.
“We will die but not let the MCC get passed,” shouted one of the protesters pushing the brigade.
While others shouted, “Passing MCC means selling the country,” they further added, “These corrupt leaders have ruined everything, and now they are about to have international level corruption.”
YCL coordinator Suman Devkota was injured in the clash. Police have controlled some protesters by controlling them.
The cadres of the Maoist Center, CPN-Unified Socialist, Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav) led CPN, Mohan Baidya led CPN-Revolutionary Maoist and other party cadres have been protesting in the Baneshwor area since this morning.
The group of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has also joined the opposition against MCC.
Transportation services on the Maitighar-Tinkune road section have been affected due to the protest.
In a meeting between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Prachanda this morning, it was agreed not to set the MCC table in today’s Parliament sitting. A meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition will be held tomorrow afternoon to decide on the MCC.
Speaker Agni Sapkota also said that there was no consensus among the parties and decided not to put MCC on the agenda.
