The Kaski District Administration Office has declared the areas surrounding Sahid Chowk and Gairapatan in Pokhara as prohibited zones citing ‘potential unrest’ following the arrest of former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane. The restrictions, effective from today, will remain in place until further notice.

The Kaski District Police Office issued a notice stating that the prohibition order was enforced to prevent potential unrest, demonstrations, riots, and clashes, as Lamichhane is being produced before the Kaski District Court today for a hearing.

Lamichhane, who is also the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was arrested in Kathmandu last Friday on charges of embezzling funds. He was transferred to Pokhara the same night for further investigation.
