With nearing election for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies, preparations are at the final stage to conduct the voting procedure seamlessly.
Around 300,000 security personnel will be deployed for security responsibilities during the elections from Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department.
Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee of the Election Commission (EC) has been monitoring the election campaign to curb aberrant activities or organization that disturbs the peace and harms the election environment.
A meeting of the Committee, on Sunday, has also directed the district code monitoring committees to keep a tab on activities such as making threats, coercion and enticement to anyone and to immediately inform about the same in case such activities are found committed by anybody.
Likewise, the Nepal Police has been directed, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, to prohibit the sale, distribution and consumption of alcohol during the election silence period (48 hours before the start of the voting and until the completion of vote counting) and to confiscate the contraband if be required as per the existing laws.
Similarly, the election-related materials are being supplied to the remote municipalities in several districts. One such place is Bhotkhola Rural Municipality, Sankhuwasabha district which will take four to five days trek from the district headquarters.
