Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s personal website has been blocked in Nepal after some pornographic content was uploaded in the website.

The Prime Minister’s administration had failed to renew the domain on time, allowing the host to sell it.

Now, Oli’s personal website — kpsharmaoli.com – shows pornographic content instead of updates relating to the PM.

According to media reports, a man in Sichuan of China has registered the website in his name and uploaded porn content.

Attributing the growing cases of rape in the country, the KP Sharma Oli government had banned digital pornography some two years ago. It is ironic that his personal website has now turned into a porn site.

A notice from internet service provider saying “website has been blocked as per the directions received from Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Nepal Telecommunications Authority” appears if one is to open the website.

After failing to reclaim the previous address, Oli’s secretariat has registered a local domain, kpsharmaoli.com.np, as the personal website of the ruling party chief.

In 2018, the Oli-led government banned porn sites in the country, stating that such websites incited sexual violence. Following the decision as many as half a million domains have been blocked in Nepal, according to the Nepal Telecommunication Authority.
