On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day 2020, which is celebrated on December 9 every year, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reiterated his commitment to zero tolerance against corruption.
Issuing a message on the occasion today, PM Oli said that corruption was a multifaceted issue and it was important to condemn bribery socially.
“I would like to express my best wishes for this day to inspire all of us to play a conscious role towards building a corruption-free society,” he said in his address.
Prime Minister Oli added that corruption should not be seen only as an economic crime as it directly attacks social values and destroy democratic institutions.
He said, “It (corruption) dismantles political stability, hinders the pace of development, and ultimately strikes at the political system itself. Not only that, in recent days, there has been a risk of taking corrupt assets abroad, investing them in criminal activities, and attacking international peace and order.”
Similarly, the Prime Minister noted that the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis’ cannot be achieved unless the incumbent government strictly and effectively controls corruption.
