With surging cases of coronavirus infection across the nation, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has started a discussion with public health experts and leaders of the opposition parties to decide whether or not to impose a second round of national lockdown, and other possible steps ahead.
Prime Minister’s press advisor, Surya Thapa, wrote on Twitter saying, “Honorable Prime Minister discussing about COVID-19 situation with experts.”
The meeting, currently underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, is attended by public health experts along with leaders of the opposition parties, including Sher Bahadur Deuba and Mahanta Thakur.
Similarly, members of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) are also present at the meeting.
The dramatic surge in new coronavirus cases after the end of lockdown has made health experts question whether the lockdown should be re-imposed in order to curb the spread.
