CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has sent a formal letter to all political parties, except the Nepali Congress, seeking support for UML candidate Subash Chandra Nembang in the presidential election.
Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel, 78, and CPN-UML leader Subas Chandra Nembang, 70, have filed their candidacies for the presidential election scheduled for March 9.
According to the secretary of CPN-UML, Dr Bhishma Adhikari, the party chair Oli has written to all parties and the independent lawmakers, except Nepali Congress requesting them to support Subash Chandra Nembang, in the upcoming election to the president.
It can be observed that there is visible dissatisfaction among two of the major ruling parties, CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN-UML in recent times. However, CPN-UML leader Prithvi Subba Gurung has informed his party would not withdraw from the Dahal-led government.
Adhikari informed the letters were sent to the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and the independent lawmakers to vote for Nembang.
