Nepal Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Tikaram Dhungana, posted as a security guard for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, passed away due to altitude sickness returning from Annapurna base camp this morning

Following Guterres’ visit to the base camp and his subsequent return via helicopter on Tuesday, Dhungana, accompanied by the Annapurna rural municipality team of Kaski, began his journey back to Ghandruk. On Tuesday, he stayed overnight in the Himalayas at an altitude of 2,350 meters.

On Wednesday morning, due to breathing difficulties, he was airlifted to Pokhara. Unfortunately, upon his arrival in Pokhara, the attending doctor pronounced him deceased, as stated by SP Mohan Bahadur Thapa.

He was posted at the police post at Ghandruk of Annapurna Rural Municipality in Kaski district.
