Stating that it wouldn’t be possible to conduct the school-level annual examinations physically anytime soon due to the pandemic, local levels most affected by the coronavirus have directed respective schools to publish the results through internal assessments.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Sunday, Illam Municipality on Monday and Pokhara Metropolitan City on Tuesday have instructed to publish the results by mid-June following the appropriate internal assessment process as per the syllabus.
Local levels have exercised their right to allow publish the results through internal assessment of students other than class VIII.
Ram Prasad Subedi, Chief of Education Division KMC, has issued a notice to conduct examinations, except of 8th grade, using appropriate method (online examination, terminal examination assessment, sending questions via email or other suitable format).
The education division has also directed schools to make necessary arrangements for conducting new academic session from the first week of July.
Similarly, Illam Municipality has asked to evaluate students on the basis of internal examination assessment or other alternative process.
Similarly, Hom Prasad Acharya, Chief of the Education Division Pokhara, has directed to publish the annual results after evaluating students on the basis of internal examination assessments conducted by respective schools during the academic session.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has provided a format for the annual assessment method of this academic session of class VIII.
KMC has set 40 percent of the total marks for the first and second quarterly examinations, 40 percent via internal student assessment and 20 percent through appropriate alternative assessment method.
Education Officer Ram Prasad Subedi, while issuing the information, has directed to enter the assessment details of the students in https://kmcdoe.org website by June 8.
