Arun Kumar Chaudhary, a lawmaker of the Nagarik Unmukti Party elected from Kailali-2 constituency, has been arrested by Nepal Police on Thursday.

In 2013, lawmaker Chaudhary was convicted of arson by Kailali District Court and sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 875,000 in 2013, along with Parshuram Chaudhary and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary as they were found guilty of setting a tractor on fire.

However, after the arrest of one of the convicts, Bir Bahadur, on Friday last week, it was found that the court’s verdict on the incident was not implemented.

DIG Poshraj Pokharel, spokesperson for Nepal Police, informed that a police team arrested him from Kohalpur, Banke today for the implementation of the verdict.

“Currently, we are taking the arrested lawmaker to the Kailali District Court for further action,” said Pokharel.
