More than 7,000 people have acquired vehicle passes from the Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) to leave Kathmandu valley since the government eased the lockdown in the last 14 days.

Kathmandu DAO has also started issuing ‘conventional’ passes since yesterday as per which people seeking permits for inter-district travel need to fill up forms with supporting documents.

Applicants need to provide their personal information and a letter of approval from local level leaders of the applicants’ destination.
The documents obtained from local leaders should clearly state that the local government will guarantee that the applicants will stay in home quarantine after reaching their destination.

The applicants are also required to provide the details of their traveling companion(s), including age, permanent address, and contact number. They are also required to provide details of the vehicle, vehicle owner and driver, and the scheduled date of movement.

Kathmandu DAO has mentioned that the pass is provided free of cost and applicants can download the form from Kathmandu DAO’s official website.

Meanwhile, the DAO has made it mandatory for people entering Kathmandu to produce letters from local leaders of the Valley which states that the latter will ensure that travellers would remain in home quarantine for 14 days.
