The government has recently established a task force led by the Ministry of Home Affairs to delve into the prospects of cannabis cultivation.
In a meeting chaired by Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, a collaborative team was assembled comprising representatives from various ministries including Home Affairs, Finance, Industry, Law, Foreign Affairs, as well as members from the Nepal Police and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Minister Mahat has given the task force one month to investigate cannabis. They will focus on its medicinal and industrial potential, including the use of hemp in clothing.
This initiative was prompted by budget item 105, which emphasized the need for medicinal cannabis cultivation.
