Gokul Baskota today filed a case at the Kathmandu District Court.

He had recently resigned as the Minister for Communication and Information Technology following reports of him being allegedly caught on tape negotiating for a Rs 700 million “commission” with the local agent for a Swiss company,

Tweeting about his decision, Baskota said, “I inform you all that I have filed a case at the Kathmandu District Court through my representatives seeking justice against the false accusation and foul language used against me.”

Baskota, however, hasn’t clarified against whom he has filed the case. According to media reports, he filed the case against Bijay Prakash Mishra.

Mishra is the other person heard in the audio clip and also the local agent of the Swiss company.

Baskota has also accepted that the voice in the audio is his, but claimed that the clip was taken out of context with the intention to malign his reputation.

Only yesterday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had defended Baskota saying allegations against the latter had not been proved and hence he can’t be termed guilty.
