Kundan Faujdar, accused of killing journalist Birendra Shah, has been arrested after absconding for twelve years.
According to Krishna Pangeni, Superintendent of Police, Bara, Faujdar was arrested from his residence at Baragadi municipality-6, Gadahal on Sunday morning at 2 am.
“His supporters tried to obstruct the police team that had reached to arrest Faujdar.” said Pangeni. He said the police team deployed to arrest Faujdar shot 4 rounds of bullets in air during the arrest.
Shah, who was working on Avenues Television, was abducted from Pipara Bazar on October 5, 2007 and killed. The team of Faujdar, who was affiliated to the then CPN (Maoist) which had reached a peace agreement, has been accused of taking Shah into Tangia jungle and killing him there.
DSP Govinda Puri of the Area Police Office, Simara, said that Faujdar would be presented in front of court since his case in still pending.
