The Election Commission has published the election schedules for the position of President and Vice President of Nepal. As per the schedule, the election of the President will take place on coming March 9 and the Vice President’s election will take place on March 17.
According to Shaligram Sharma Poudel, spokesperson for the commission, the elections will take place on the above-mentioned dates at the Federal Parliament Secretariat Building, New Baneswor from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Members of the Federal Parliament and the Province Assembly in seven provinces will vote for the elections.
The Election Commission has provided time till February 25 for registering candidacy nomination(s) for the position of President while the deadline for candidacy nomination(s) for the Vice President position has been set for March 11.
In accordance with Articles 63 and 69 of the Constitution, the terms of the President and the Vice President shall be for five years. The current President’s tenure will end on March 12, 2023.
