Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada today took over responsibilities as the new Minister of Communication and Information Technology.
Dr Khatiwada was appointed the new Communication Minister after the erstwhile minister, Gokul Baskota, resigned from his post following the leak of an audio clip wherein he is heard bargaining for Rs 700 million commission in the process of establishing the security printing press.
Dr Khatiwada has been appointed the new communication minister on the recommendation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
While taking office in the new capacity, Dr Khatiwada said that he had garnered some knowledge about the Ministry of Communication while drafting the national budget and would work accordingly.
Stating that he would utilize this newfound opportunity to end poverty, bring about inclusive development, and move towards national prosperity, Dr Khatiwada made a commitment that he would ensure the citizen’s right to information.
