As increasing number of police brutality incidents make rounds on social media, the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, has said it is going to impart human rights training in all 243 units of the Kathmandu Valley.

A team, led by SSP Sushil Kumar Yadav and Kiran Bajracharya, has been deployed for the human rights training.

The DIG of the Metropolitan Police Office, Bishwaraj Pokhrel said that training will focus on teaching the police officers how to fulfill their responsibilities while respecting the rights of the people.

DIG Pokhrel said that the training was being imparted as the officers are facing relationship and psychological stigma as they have to work despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Nepal Police has been receiving extreme criticism in recent days as incidents of police brutally, captured and published on social media are making rounds on public feeds.
