The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has deployed its central leaders to various district to participate in a nationwide protest program scheduled to be held on Monday against the government’s inaptitude as well as the earlier arrest of party senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel in Tanahun.

According to Krishna Poudel, chief secretary of the party’s central office, party president Sher Bahadur Deuba will address a protest rally in Makwanpur and senior leader Poudel in Kathmandu.

Similarly, NC deputy president Bimalendra Nidhi has been deployed in Bhaktapur, general secretary Shashank Koirala in Morang, Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav in Lalitpur, and joint general secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat in Jhapa.

Likewise, NC former vice-president Gopalman Shrestha will oversee protest in Kavre, former general secretaries Prakash Man Singh Dhanusha and Krishna Prasad Sitaula in Mahottari, former joint general secretaries Ram Sharan Mahat Chitwan and Arjun Narasimha KC will be in Kaski, former Treasurer Chitralekha Yadav in Saptari and joint general secretaries Sunil Bahadur Thapa is going to Dhankuta.

General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and party Spokesperson Bishwaprakash Sharma will coordinate protest programs across the country from the party’s central office in Kathmandu.

NC senior leader Poudel was arrested and allegedly manhandled by the local administration on December 2 while he was about to inaugurate a bridge near Damauli in Tanahun.

NC has also sent slogans from the center to various districts stating that its protest was against totalitarianism, government’s inaptitude, bigotry, corruption, repression, disorder, and inept handling of COVID-19 crisis.

A meeting of the party’s organizational department held on Friday appealed its cadres to make the nationwide demonstration strong and effective.
